#Lovewins Over Books, And That’s Okay

Last weekend, I enjoyed the air conditioning and ambiance of AFK Elixirs & Eatery in Renton, WA with my good friend Jeffrey Cook and many others for a book signing. It happened to coincide with Seattle’s annual Gay Pride Parade. With the Supreme Court decision in Obergefell v. Hodges coming only one day earlier, there was a great deal more to celebrate than usual.

As you might guess, the resulting perfect storm of jubilation, even in a state that’s had legalized same-sex marriage for several years, left us with low turnout at the AFK. For once, I’m really okay with that. Everyone who came anyway has the thanks of not just me, but all the authors who participated and the restaurant staff.

I had to cram all my stuff into a very *small* space, but somehow managed. Pictured with me is David S. Moore, a lovely gentleman who writes sci-fi.

Coming up next weekend, Jeff and I will be at GearCon in Portland with Lindsay Schopfer. If you’ll be in the area, it’s indoors. With air conditioning! With more record-high temperatures predicted, that seems like a good reason to hang out at a convention. The pdxgearcon folks are a little slow on the (map) draw this year, so I don’t know where we’ll be aside from “in the vendor room.”

Hope to see you there! I’ll do my best to get pictures and video. It’s so easy to forget when I’m having so much fun.
