I got out for my first bicycle ride of the year today. I could’ve gone out plenty of times before this, as it hasn’t been a wretched winter full of snow, but I dislike riding at temperatures below about 45F, and I prefer to ride early in the morning for multiple reasons, including the fact that I’m a morning person. I like coming in from a ride and hopping into the shower, I like starting my day with vigorous exercise, and I like waking up by scaring myself half to death because oh &*%^, WHERE DID THAT GIANT FALLEN BRANCH COME FROM??!?!?! DIVE! DIVE! AWOOOOOGA!

Over the winter, I’ve been using a treadmill desk while I work, primarily because I haven’t figured out how to keep my mind on task enough to work while using my bicycle trainer. I think I could set it up at the standing desk if I wanted to. However, my brain is not effective at creativity while doing Serious Exercise. It’s good at reacting to the aforementioned giant fallen branches, but not thinking about why it fell, if cyber-ninja squirrels might have done it, and what sort of school those cyber-ninja squirrels attend to get their mad ninja skillz, or what lunatic genius fitted them with cyber parts in the first place. Maybe those squirrels are actually Skynet’s first attempt at terminators. None of this would come up in my head while riding a bike. Instead, I get “Eek, branch, swerve and brake”.

Where was I? Someone mentioned squirrels, and I forgot everything else. Must not have been important. Ride on!
Big smile!
